SEO SpyGlass installation requirements
SEO SpyGlass is a part of SEO PowerSuite pack which consists of four separate tools:
This SEO software works on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
All these tools are written using the latest Java technology, so you must have the latest Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Version 1.5 or later (available at http://www.java.com/ web site) installed before you install SEO SpyGlass or any other product.
If you are installing for Mac OS X, you already have Apple's JRE installed. Apple Computer supplies their own version of Java. Use the Software Update feature (available on the Apple menu) to check that you have the most up-to-date version of Java for your Mac.
Windows users should visit the http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp page to download and install Java.
Linux users should use the original Java from Sun Microsystems (which is now a subsidiary of Oracle Corporation) and should visit the http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp page to download and install Sun's Java.
Windows Installation Instructions
Install:
- Download the zip archive and unpack it somewhere on your hard disk.
- Run the installation program (setup.exe) and follow the instructions. Please note that you can also select other SEO PowerSuite tools to be installed along with SEO SpyGlass.
- To run the application double-click the SEO SpyGlass icon on you desktop or run seospyglass.exe from the product installation directory.
- To run other applications from the SEO PowerSuite pack just double-click the appropriate icon on your desktop or start the corresponding exe-file from the product installation folder.
- If you do not have a Java virtual machine 1.5 or later installed, be sure to download and install it before installing SEO SpyGlass or download the version with JRE included.
- Windows 7/Vista/XP/2000/2003/2008; Windows 7/Vista recommended.
- PC with 600 MHz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 300 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system); Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended.
- 1024 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (512 MB minimum supported; may limit performance).
- 200 megabytes (MB) of available hard disk space.
- Super VGA (1024 x 768) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor.
- 56 Kbps dial-up connection minimum required; broadband Internet connection recommended.
Mac OS X Installation Instructions
Install:
- Download the tar.gz archive and save it somewhere on your hard disk.
- Unpack the downloaded tar.gz archive by double-clicking the tar.gz icon — A "SEO SpyGlass Installer" application will be extracted from this archive.
- Double-click the "SEO SpyGlass Installer" application. After that, simply drag the SEO SpyGlass icon to your Application folder and follow further instructions. Please note that you can also select other SEO PowerSuite tools to be installed along with SEO SpyGlass.
- To run the application just double-click the SEO SpyGlass icon in the "/Applications/SEO PowerSuite" folder.
- To run other applications from the SEO PowerSuite pack just double-click the appropriate icon in the "/Applications/SEO PowerSuite" folder.

- Mac OS X 10.3 Panther with Java 1.6 or higher installed, Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or Mac OS X 10.7 Lion; Mac OS X 10.6 and Mac OS X 10.7 recommended.
- Any PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 or Intel processor; 1 GHz G3, dual 800 MHz G4, any G5 or any Intel recommended.
- 1024 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (512 MB minimum supported; may limit performance).
- 300 megabytes (MB) of available hard disk space.
- A 1024 x 768 built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer.
- 56 Kbps dial-up connection minimum required; broadband Internet connection recommended.
Linux/UNIX Installation Instructions
Install:
- Download the tar.gz archive and unpack it somewhere on your hard disk;
- Change to the directory where you unpacked the archive, and run the installer: ./install.sh (as a super-user);
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Open a terminal emulator such as xterm and issue the following command: seospyglass.
- If you do not have a Java virtual machine 1.5 or later installed, be sure to download and install it before installing any of SEO PowerSuite tools.

- Any Linux distro with official 32-bit Sun JAVA JRE/JDK vs. 1.5 or newer installed (reported to work with Debian, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Redhat/Fedora, Mandriva, Gentoo, Slackware, and Novell SUSE Linux); Debian GNU/Linux recommended.
