I just checked my Activity Monitor, and RankTracker is using 370% cpu (out of 400%) for just checking rank. Can this be fixed? _________________ Katz Web Design is a Denver SEO company.

We haven't been able to reproduce this so far. I'm afraid we need more info on your hardware and software configuration.
So, could you tell me what's you hardware configuration?
What's your OS and Java version?
Do you have any accessibility options turn on in your OS?
Is Rank Tracker using 370% CPU ONLY during rank check, or during other activities as well?
We'll try to reproduce and fix the problem then... _________________ Search Engine Optimization Software

My CPU pegs out at 99% out of 100.
1) A7N8X Asus MB
AMD Athlon(tm)XP 1900+
1.46GHz 2.25GB of RAM
2) OS = XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2
java version "1.6.0_02"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_02-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0_02-b05, mixed mode, sharing)
3) I don't know what an accessibility option is. I would guess no I do not have any accessibility options turned on...
4) Only when rank checking is turned on. Currently rank check seems to have stalled out on the 63rd of 20K entries. The "javaw.exe" process is what is using all of the CPU and about 169MBs of ram.
Is there a way to find out why it is stalled?

More details...
Even after stopping the rank checking the CPU hangs at 99%. I had to exit the program to free the CPU. It's as if you are spinning away on a socket or perhaps looking for something that's not there in the reply. This kind of makes sense given that rank checker was stalled on an entry both times this happened to me.
So this time I told rank checker only to look at google, not MSN or Yahoo. So far some 700 entries have been checked and the cpu is staying at 4 to 16%. I'll bet you the problem has something to do with MSN or Yahoo...

Ok, the culprit is MSN. Soon as I try to check MSN though it hangs on the third keyword and the CPU goes up to 99%.
Google finished fine.
Yahoo I'm not sure about. It just keeps giving an error 999. This is a known error due to some coding problem on their part. Why they would release buggy code and not be able to fix it in what, two weeks now, is unbelievable. Talk about bad management.
Now besides the MSN problem there appears to be a memory leak in your program.
It starts off at 160MB and will eat up hundreds of MBs more. I've seen it over 500MBs now. I have to exit the program to free up the memory after a rank check...

Dave, good news!
We've finally managed to reproduce the problem, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for helping us!
The problem will be fixed in the next version of Rank Tracker (it'll become available in a couple of days). _________________ Search Engine Optimization Software
