I see that version 4.0b is out now. I assume b stands for BETA. Should i upgrade my software to the new version, or wait until it is out of BETA. If i should upgrade now, how do i go about that? _________________ Washington DC Web Design

I was unclear about this as well. Enterprise version won't work unless you upgrade.

Yep, BILZ, you're right -- b stands for BETA. But you can safely download this new version right now -- it's fully functional and contains a lot of new features.
You don't even have to pay additional money, and can continue using Rank Tracker Professional as is. However, some features like saving reports are not available in the Professional version. So, ONLY if you need these exact features, you can buy Rank Tracker Enterprise.
Just as we promised, all RT Pro updates will be free. For example, this new version supports more than 100 new search engines, has enhanced workspace management, shows reports, and many more improvements and fixes. And you can just enter your existing license key, and enjoy all these improvements.
Please use the download links in the email announcement you recieved to get this new Rank Tracker 4.0b. _________________ Search Engine Optimization Software

BILZ, please read my posts carefully. I said that THERE'S NO ADDITIONAL FEES, and YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY for this update.
If you own Rank Tracker Professional, just install the new version, and enjoy all the enhancements and improvements of this new version which are covered by the Professional license. _________________ Search Engine Optimization Software

Yeah, I don't expect the Enterprise features to magically appear within the Professional version.
Enterprise is way worth it. Thanks guys!

I read your posts carefully. I see that you have additional updates available but the new updates are mostly crippled unless you pay more money for the "enterprise" version. - how are reports helpful if i cant save them or email them out to anyone?
And when i purchased this program i don't remember there being any distinctions between a "professional" or "enterprise" version of the program. It seems like you just invented this distinction so you can charge more for these "advanced" features. Was there always a "professional" or "enterprise" version of the program? Or am I just way off base here? _________________ Washington DC Web Design

I noticed this and thought the same. It's way worth it man. Trust me. For visual reporting or tracking of a ranking which is exported to Excel, that's all that was promised in the Pro version.
Enterprise is worth the money ...I saw what it had to offer and immediately bought it. I'm not regretting it yet.

I am sure it is worth the money. That's not the point. The point is that I purchased the software about 2 months ago and was promised free updates. Now they release the new updates and call it a different version so I am supposed to pay more for it. Which is no way to teat your customers. If you want to raise your prices, fine - but raise the price for future customers - not your existing ones.

Exporting to excel? It doesn't export to excel. You have to copy and past to excel and it doesn't even format itself right when you do this. What was promised was free updates to the software. Thats why i have spent so much time in these forums making suggestions for improvements to the software. _________________ Washington DC Web Design

When I copy/past to Excel (csv) it works. Are you on a Mac? I have not tried this on my Macbook Pro yet. The way that they are approaching this similar to nearly any other software company out there.
They do update the software for free. I have received at least 3 or 4 updates to the software free of charge since ordering about 3 months ago.
If a client orders a CMS from me or a shopping cart, I may provide security updates and patches to keep the software working, but if I role out another product or a re-make of the shopping cart, I don't necessarily give the client the newest one for free ...they need to pay for my time and continued development.
Again, I saw it the same way you did until I thought long and hard about how I earn my income and how they're running their operation ...seems fair to me so far.
