'LinkAssistant could not find the URL you specified' - ä ö ü problem

While searching for backlinks I found URLs like this one e.g. http://dmoz.org/World/Deutsch/Gesellschaft/Sexualität/Tantra (and all the replications of the Open Directory)

When I try to ge the page PR I see the above eror message plus some more, indicating a 403 error. The Site PR is found.
When I check if the link still exists the states 'Page not found'. The page and the backlink still exist.

I assume it's a problem with the 'ä' in the URL. Characters like 'ä' are allowed in domainnames by now but might be not supported any more. Since I started checking backlinks for this domain only after I started using LinkAssistant I am very sure LinkAssistant found the URLs in the first place but does not want to handle them now. It might have been an older version though.

Current version of LinkAssistant, MacOs 10.4.8.

Any ideas?
