Hi again, Im now rolling along, making a right mess of my links page but learning as I go. I was also glad to read some of the information that was mailed to me about tips on doing things right... as in.. well, I didnt have exactly 100's of thousands of links being setup, but it was a little out of hand.
Anyway, along to another questoin if I may:
How can I improve my email response rate? I get 99% of them coming back with failed receipts, so the mail adddress I guess just isnt right in most cases..
any ideas for better suggestions?
Thanks _________________ Music

Hi,... and sorry for the delayed reply My answer is right below...
As of now, LinkAssistant looks for email addresses on websites of your (potential) link partners (i.e. scans some of thier pages), plus it uses WhoIs data to get emails if nothing is found on a website. We're going to heavily improve this module in the future to improve accuracy.
As for the quality of the feedback you get, here's a few tips that most our clients (many of them professional SEOs) use with pretty good results:
- if you send emails, your messages MUST BE personalized. LinkAssistant has email templates that let you easily accomplish this. The more personalized emails you send, the better feedback you will get.
- don't try to exchange links with BIG sites if your site is not a big one yet. Any link partner expects some value from a link you offer. So, for example, if you've got a new website with PR0, start out slowly, and exchange links with PR1 - PR4 sites first.
-if you found a website that you'd REALLY like to get a link from, be patient and try to learn as much about this site as possible, and probably even write a letter describing some kind of additional value a link from your site can bring your potential link partner.
Hope this helps. _________________ Search Engine Optimization Software

Thanks again, yes I see. When I first started playing I had probably 500 links on my page within 30 minutes but I then realised, through reading more and thinking more logically that this wasnt sensible, or logical from googles point of view. So I begun to see that LA isnt a way to create a massive link database overnight, rather assist in a more organic approach whilst still having value in that its a central management system for your link operations.
I have changed the template a little and have had some success and also have found possibly two new partners who want to sell their products on my site, so its doing me good in more ways than one.
In terms of email addresses, its good LA makes an attempt via WHOIS, and Im happy to hear more work will be put into making this part of the process accurate since it could reduce a lot of time spent searching as well as many failed possible good partnerships.
I purchased LA and Spyglass today BTW
