Well I am in to SEO since the last year (Read 10 months).I have been optimizing for my website using the basics.Initially things were going fine but the problem started when I began using different tools and resources for analyzing the prospects of my website.
I always ranked in the first page of Google for 10 of my keywords. The Alexa rankings were also Improving and so did my backlinks and PR when Google crawled for it the last time.I had also installed a stat counter to monitor the no of unique visitors coming to my site.
Things got different when I started using Google analytics for my website. The difference in visits are there as shown by Google and the stat counter.I do understand how my stat counter works and I also understand the mode of operandi of Google taking into account its traffic diversification sources. All I need to know is that when my stat counter shows that I have an average traffic of 45 (Daily basis),Why does the traffic count in Google show that for a months period I have an average count of only 25.
Another factor that is worrying me is the Alexa Rankings which have been on a steady decline since the last month.
Could someone explain in detail as to what is going wrong???I would also prefer some inputs and comments or tips as to what is to be implemented to get over this factor.

Google Analytics uses JavaScript + cookies to track your visitors, your stat counter most probably uses hits information provided by your web server (Apache or whatever you've got installed). Thus Google doesn't count people who don't have JS enabled, plus it may count the same person as two different persons in case cookies were cleared, etc... On the other hand, most stat counters can't determine correctly the end of visitor's session -- that's why they often count 1 visitoe as 2 or more different people. That's why results are different.

It's Christmas time, marketraise Smile People don't visit web marketing- and SEO-related sites in December -- they prefer getting gifts and browsing something more funny Wink
