Hi guys, Ive not been able to locate the page on Yahoo that has the API key, Ive been forwarded to a page on Yahoo before to get one but there is nothing there. Does anyone have an actual URL for getting or applying for one?

Thanks

Hi! Haven't heard much from you recently Wink

Please use the link that stands in the software in "Preferences -> Search Engine API Keys"

On the page that opens, you can login if you have a Yahoo account, or create a new account.
Where you have to select a radiobutton for "*Authentication method", select "Generic, No user authentication required" and proceed futher - you'll manage to get your API key.

Goosh
I created a Yahoo API back in the day but that doesnt work.

Just a quick question:

When inputting the name of the Development Company and Application name - do we use Rank Tracker etc or do we create a random API?

All I see at Yahoo is the html verification under authentication

Im at the site:

siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com

is this right?

there is a web api mentioned on the page but it focuses on tracking traffic on your site like google analytics .. or am I wrong?

This isn't important. You can enter "Rank Tracker" or anything else - doesn't really matter.

No, this is not right. As I already said, you need to follow the link from Rank Tracker application. Here's that URL:
http://api.search.yahoo.com/webservices/register_application
If you use this URL and follow my advice from an above posting you must get an API key like anyone else.

That was easy Very Happy I've got one now

So, how exactly will this affect my Rank Tracker lead operations?

What has always confused me about this application is that it is written as is I am the application developer. That is why I have never filled it in.

Ive read the information but dont understand, and I appreciate this is outside your remit, but can I ask anyone who might now, is this api something I can use for other reasons. say for example, Wordpress? Wordpress (plugin) submits an xml file to SEs but offers a field for your Yahoo API.

Do you need one per app? or is this my personal API?

will it make any difference? as Ive said above, Im lost as to what the point of all this is now.

This Yahoo! API that you got is your personal thing and it doesn't really matter for which application you use it - it can be Wordpress as well. But you should bear this in mind that Yahoo! API allows 5000 queries per day - so if you apply it here and there you may have too few queries left for Rank Tracker Wink
