But I need more information on your problem:
1) what is the error message you get?
2) I may need you mail settings to check them - so please post this data here, or, if you don't want to post it publicly, please PM me or (this is the best solution, I think) send us an email to support@link-assistant.com

can someone help me to configure my email. I use hotmail and can't get it to work.
I could use some step by step instructions.

Debbie,
Unfortunately you cannot use a Hotmail account with LinkAssistant. The problem is that Hotmail doesn't provide access via standard POP3/SMTP mailing protocols - they use their own protocol, because they offer email addresses for free, and they need to show advertising while people are reading their emails. Though MS Outlook can work with Hotmail, but this is only caused by the fact that both Outlook and Hotmail are owned by Microsoft - so almost no other software except MS Outlook can work with Hotmail, and LinkAssistant can't either, sorry.
Besides, we do not recommend working with different kind of free email addresses like AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc, because webmasters do not usually trust messages with such an address - and they simply skip your messages. We'd recommend you to create an email account at your own domain (something like links@your-domain.com) - this will definitely increase the percentage of positive feedback to your link exchange requests.
