I'm trying to analyse my links from webmaster tools but of course there's over 50000+! Much more than the yahoo links and SEO Spyglass tries to analyse all of them which is good, that's what I want but of course it takes absolutely forever even with it only grabbing minimal data ie page ranking features only. It says its gonna take 36 hours! What I want to know is, what would make the biggest difference to the speed SEO Spyglass acquires this data - internet connection or computer processing power?

Thanks.

Hi hasen,
basically, the speed of SEO SpyGlass working depends on Internet connection.
However 50000 links is a lot, and will surely take much time to process. Here's a couple of tips for you that will make your work much more convenient:

In the same screen where you select which CSV file to import, you see a checkbox "Show expert options" at the bottom. Tick this checkbox.

At the nest step, you can deselect all options, or leave only a couple of options selected (the "Page Ranking Factors" part is the most time-consuming). With these options off, you will get all backlinks added to your project quickly.

After that, you can select backlinks by portions, and check them (use the Update button for that).

You will be able to choose which factors should be checked, which may save you much of your time.

Hope this advice helps.

Ok I see. One thing I've noticed is that it often gets stuck on one stupid link for hours and in the end I have to quit the whole analysis at that point. Would it be possible to add a 'skip link' option where I can simply click that during the analysis and it will ignore that single difficult link and carry on. It would be so much better than having to quit the whole analysis!

Yes, we know about this problem. The option you suggest will be added in one of the future versions.
Thank you for letting us know your opinion.

Yes please add that for the next update. Its the most essential addition. I'm running a project right now that would be finished in less time than it gets stuck for if I could skip these links I don't even care about. I'm analysing 10,000 links and it goes quite fast most of the time but when it gets stuck it gets stuck for more than an hour each time! It would have been finished ages ago if I could skip these problem links and only with 2 links missing!

Not only that but the links it gets stuck on can't be analysed anyway so I don't know why its not automatic to skips them after a certain amount of time has passed trying to get data from them. It seems silly that the program would try forever on just one link over and over again trying to get the data it obviously can't.

hasen, sorry for this problem. You'll be able to skip checking links very soon. If nothing urgent happens, we hope to release this feature in the end of the month. We will send you a notification letter.
