If you get no backlinks to your site in LinkAssistant or cannot add Prospects to your project manually, please check on the most common reason below, and ways to fix that.
There are three different modes in LinkAssistant when it comes to gathering existing backlinks: Domain only, Domain and subdomains, or Exact URL.
If you've created the project for the exact URL, the app will only search for backlinks leading to that exact page.
LinkAssistant is using SEO PowerSuite Link Explorer to gather the existing backlinks, and it may happen that there's no backlink data for some of the websites in our Index yet.
The reason may be that the backlinks have been obtained recently, or the linking websites may not have too many backlinks of their own, which slows the crawling down.
Basically, the reason is that all backlink tools are providing the data harvested by their crawlers that surf the Web incessantly, yet it may take up to several months (depending on the service) for a crawler to reach all the corners of the Web and find all the newly-gained backlinks.
When running an outdated version of the app, you may come across any bug that's been fixed long ago or miss some of the feature updates, crucial for the proper functioning.
Make sure you download and install the current version of LinkAssistant.
Restart the app and try searching for backlinks anew.
Without the active Search Algo Updates subscription, LinkAssistant cannot access the SEO PowerSuite Link Explorer database to gather the backlinks.
More details on Search Algo Updates subscription can be found here. To renew the subscription, visit the Subscription Calculator page.
Use the Quick Search field to search for the domain you are trying to add - it may happen that you already have a URL from that domain in your project.
Adding multiple instances of the same domain/URL to your project is not possible. If you need to add multiple different URLs from the same domain, click to Add Prospects, then enter the URLs one per line and tick the Get Exact URLs box in the next step:
When you delete prospects from your LinkAssistant project, you are offered to move those to Excluded Prospects list:
This is to prevent them from being added again upon new Search for Prospects or upon importing/adding Prospects manually. However, this sometimes happens unintentionally.
To fix that, jump to Preferences > Prospect Management > Excluded Prospects, and remove the unnecessary domains from there:
You'll be able to add those to your project anew then.
