Where are exception logs?

If something isn't working right, our support team may ask you for an exception log. Please open the "Help" menu in the software and choose "Send project to support". Enter your contact details as prompted by the wizard. We'll analyze the data you provide and get back to you with assistance within 1 business day.  

How to send log from software

Another way to send us the file is by locating it manually. Please consider this option if the software won't start or if the Help menu is inaccessible. 

The location of the logs varies depending on the operating system. Instructions for SEO PowerSuite and BuzzBundle are listed below. Instructions for new SEO SpyGlass (beta) are available in a separate post.

Windows XP 

Click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop and specify a path to the file you need.

Rank Tracker Local Disk (C:)\Documents and Settings\{user_name}\Local Settings\Temp\Rank Tracker\{user_name}\ranktracker.log
WebSite Auditor Local Disk (C:)\Documents and Settings\{user_name}\Local Settings\Temp\WebSite Auditor\{user_name}\websiteauditor.log

Windows Vista/7

Open your Start menu. Choose "Computer" from it. Follow the path to an appropriate file.

WebSite Auditor Local Disk (C:)\Users\{user_name}AppData\Local\Temp\WebSite Auditor\{user_name}\websiteauditor.log

BuzzBundle Local Disk (C:)\Users\{user_name}AppData\Local\Temp\BuzzBundle\{user_name}\buzzbundle.log

Mac OS X

  1. Start the Terminal and execute the following command: open $TMPDIR (it will open your temporary data folder in the Finder).
  2. Click on the name of the tool you want a log for.
  3. Choose your user name.
  4. Open an appropriate log file: ranktracker.log, websiteauditor.log, seospyglass.log, linkassistant.log or buzzbundle.log. 

Linux OS

  1. Open your temp folder. If unsure where it is, one of these commands should help: echo $TMP, echo $TMPDIR or echo $TEMPDIR.
  2. Click on the name of the tool you want a log for.
  3. Choose your user name.
  4. Open an appropriate log file: ranktracker.log, websiteauditor.log, seospyglass.log, linkassistant.log or buzzbundle.log.
