Sounds like Google is intent on redefining the world-wide web and conforming it to THEIR image.

Site speed is such a slippery factor to be judging a site on. Some sites are image rich and have large files that contribute value to the user experience.

Content is king..but may no longer be so if download speed is a more important criteria for developers and businesses.

I have expected this from Google for quite some time. The question is how are they going to measure it. I regularly go to some sites that one day are unbearably slow and most times very fast. So it is a factor of the internet pipeline as well as other factors.

    I am reading:
If there is "No data" for the website it means that it is not popular enough right now, and load speed cannot have crucial importance for it yet. You will rather need to concentrate on other SEO activities, in the first place.

I have 4 pages in top10 and Auditor is saying "You will rather need to concentrate on other SEO activities". :) :) :)

    Good boy!

Its logical to have the page load as fast as possible. None of us like waiting for a new page to load and will bounce off it before its even finished if its too slow. For sites with numerous images try reducing the resolution and/or size as the resolution required for the web is quite low. Another way to measure site load speed is to use http://webwait.com as this gives an average speed.

I agree with localseoraleigh, some days sites load quickly, and other days much more slowly. It would be a shame if some sites withdrew some of their amazing images just to get a quick load speed. It will be difficult for web designers to balance the speed with the great design.

I think it is a good idea, people don't have time to wait for slow sites to load, wonder if google will penalise itself for some of it's own slow loading stuff? Google maps and road directions come to mind for really slow loading pages.
