SEO Scavenger Hunt is Over!

October 4th, 2010 | Link-Assistant.Com | Posted in category SEO Contests

So we've arrived, you guys. The SEO Scavenger Hunt has ended. Time to announce the winners, uncover the answers and divide the loot.

Day #5 correct answer was…

SEO Pirate

The last day was much trickier; still you did a great job finding the answer. Here's how the puzzle solves.

The clue you were given said:

Today the answer will be a four part tale... we start off back at the Stream to give an R.I.P to SEO.

This one was quite easy, all you had to do is google R.I.P. to SEO which led you to this page. There you got another part of the clue that said SEO Bullshit.

Connect that with the starting clue that says: Take the answer from that to find SEO snake oil that pervades.

It takes a 2 second search to find out what SEO Bullshit is and then another two second search to locate the right page on the site.

There you get another clue hidden in the alt tag of the SEO pirate image:

You grab that and connect it with the third part of the starting clue:

From that point my friends take the next clue down the Trail to find one last hint, that leads us back home where it began. To win all the loot, let's just hope you're alone.

If you read the Day Four correct answer, which was in the same post as the Day Five clue you already knew where the Trail is. So all you had to do was look for the right page using the clue you picked at SEObullshit.com.

There you got the last hint which you were told to bring back home (home being our SEO blog where it all started). The SEO pirate on the trail told you to look for the 'keywords you rank for'.

So you should have ended up over here.

If you were attentive enough you spotted the little SEOvenger hunt logo on the sail of the pirate ship at the end of the post. You just clicked on the image to get a larger version and there it was – the answer of our final SEOvenger Hunt day.

Now to the main act…

Day #5 winners are…

We had a lot of bright SEO pirates file the correct answer, but as you know only four take the loot, and the lucky folks are:

Eric Wu - 1 Year SEO Dojo Membership - $250 value

Jasmin Nato - WordStream for SEO Enterprise Five Months Free - $1995 value

Andrew Molloy - SEMRush Guru Subscription (6 months) - $720 value

Sergej Karssen - SEO PowerSuite Enterprise + SEO PowerSuite Professional hotpack - $848

Congrats, maties, your loot be on its way…arrrrrgh!!

Thank You…

We'd like to thank all the fine SEO pirates who took part in the hunt. Thanks a bunch, folks, it wouldn't be any fun without you. Even if you were not among the lucky ones we hope you still enjoyed yourself (say Woot! if you did ;) ).

And of course, many thanks to our good friends at WordStream, SEMRush and SEO Dojo for helping us host the whole thing and special double-thanks to Dave Harry for his excellent work on the clues.

It's been a sweet ride and we'll most certainly do it again, so stay tuned, arrrrgh!

This was a very interesting competition. No winning, no problem. I have readed and learn a lot in the process so this has been a very productive activity. Congrats to all the winners and please organize a new contest soon :)

Woot! It was fun, even not winning anything... maybe your next hunt can include more SEOesque challenges. The site: search was a step in the right direction. What about hiding stuff in meta tags, H1's, and backlinking domains or something?

Actually we had this in mind but didn't want to make it too hard this first time. We'll certainly dial up the difficulty and get deeper into SEO stuff next time we hold something like this. Thanks!
